Doll Bassinet

I made a really cute little bassinet for my grand daughter Taylor, for Christmas.
You can find the tutorial here.

I chose a soft pastel with pink, red and gray to match the baby doll's outfit.

You can see the simple crosshatch quilting I did.

I couldn't make a bassinet without making a quilt and a pillow!

This doll's so cute, I almost wanted to keep her for myself, lol!

I love the back of the quilt too, it's really happy!

This is my adorable little grand daughter Taylor, she'll be 2 years old next month!
She and her sisters visited for Christmas, and I was able to watch her open her gift, bonus!!!

I've made quite a few of these bassinets, you can see them here, here, here and here.
Thanks for reading my blog :)

Little Red Riding Hood, and a Doll Bassinet

post signature
I made a doll bassinet for one of my grand daughters.
I've made a few of them, they're pretty easy to sew.
You can find the tutorial here.

I added a little "Merry Christmas" tag,  just because :)

I want to show you a close up of the fabric, it's so cute!
Pictured are Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Goldilocks, and the Three Little Pigs.

Here's Little Red.
I made her recently for another grand daughter.

Little Red is a panel by Moda fabrics.
The panel has the doll, Mr. Big, a pillow and a quilt.
You just have to cut and stuff :)

I just love the little quilt!

I added a table, "PS. I Love You", my little grand daughter is named after me and she's pretty special :)
All of my grandchildren are special!

I might get a photo on Christmas day.
If I do, I'll share it with you.
Have a fabulous week, hope you get all your Christmas sewing done :)

Doll Quilt

I made a doll quilt to go with the doll bassinet and the dolly diaper bag that I made for my 2 l/2 year old grand daughter Maisie.
I wanted to keep it simple, so I sewed 9 charm pack squares together.  I quilted it with swirly swirls :)  It's a good way to practice my machine quilting.

Whenever I bind a quilt, I put the leftover binding in a box.
I use the leftover binding for doll quilts or for a scrappy binding.
There are four different fabrics used in this leftover binding.
I just attach whatever binding fabrics I think look nice together.

Do you see the four different prints in the binding?
I think it adds interest to the quilt.

I hand sewed the binding to the back of the quilt.
I made a little pillow that fits into the doll bassinet perfectly!
I just cut two pieces of fabric, sewed around the edges making sure to leave an opening.  I stuffed the pillow with fiber fill and sewed the opening closed on the sewing machine.  Very easy!

I don't have the doll to show you how he looks in the bassinet.
I used a porcelain doll, but she's a little long.

You get the idea....
I would have loved a gift like this when I was little!
I wish I could watch Maisie open her gifts on Christmas morning.
I would love to see her reaction :)

Doll Bassinet

My husband and I bought this cute doll for Maisie, one of our grand daughters.  It is a Corolle doll from France and has a soft bean filled body that is fun to carry around, hug and snuggle.  The doll always smells like baby powder too, even after being thrown in the washing machine.
Maisie's baby brother was born eight weeks early in September.  He is a little over nine pounds now, but we thought it would be fun to get her a doll that looks like her brother Benjamin.

I made a doll bassinet for three other grand daughters last Christmas, you can see them here, in an older post.
The bassinet takes a little time to make, but is still quite simple.
The tutorial tells you to machine quilt the body of the bassinet, like the hatching on Moses' basket.  These are all the pieces used to make the bassinet.

The tutorial can be found at Pinterest, on my "stuff to make for the grandkids" board, found here.  The link for the tutorial can be found here.  I made a mistake and quited the bassinet like a quilt.  I had to cut extra fabric for the lining again and resew it!!!  I was watching Hallmark Christmas movies and got distracted....Lol....

This is the finished doll bassinet.  I really like the baby blue rick rack trim instead of lace.  I think it is more baby boyish :)  I will show you the rest of the accessories I made for Maisie's baby boy doll in my next post.  Stay tuned!

Doll Bassinet

I did a lot of sewing this past Christmas. I bought a baby doll for three of our grandaughters, and made a bassinet, pillow and quilt to match their doll's outfits.
This is one of the quilts I made.  Nine 5" squares sewn together, machine quilted and bound.

Doll quilts are so cute...you can use them for table toppers, placemats, mug rugs, centerpieces, or even as doll quilts :)

I love this little bassinet.  I made two this color.

When I was sewing these bassinets with their little pillows and quilts, I wanted to buy a doll of my own so badly just so I could see how sweet it looked lying in its own little snuggly bed.

I made one like this.

I was fortunate enough to see one of my grandaughters open her gift.  Charlotte was pretty happy!

Charlotte takes her baby with her when she goes grocery shopping.

Charlotte loves feeding her baby, she is such a good Mommy :)

Reagan likes her doll too!

Reagan carries her bassinet like a purse!  Ha ha!!

Reagan is so precious with her little doll, she is a good Mommy too.  Grandchildren are a blessing
