A Giveaway and a Tutorial!

I have been wanting to make one of these "Lined Drawstring Bags" for a long time, I think they are so cute!
I have a board dedicated to them on Pinterest, here.
Jeni Baker, author of the blog, In Color Order designed the pattern, and you can find it on her blog.
The bag pattern can be made in many sizes, but the smallest size is written as a tutorial and can be found here.

I decided to try out my new sewing machine, and I made 4 Lined Drawstring Bags :)
This is the fabric I chose for the first bag, it's from a Mary Engelbreit line.

I love it, and it was fun and easy to make!

One of the things I love about this bag, is that it's completely lined.

I liked the bag so much, that I made another one in blue.

Oh, how sweet!

Now there are two :)

I looked through my stash and found this combination.
Riley Blake chevron, Anna Maria Horner and Sandy Gervais.
Instead of using fabric for the drawstrings, I used some twill tape.

There is too much light in this photo, sorry.
This bag pattern can be addicting...

Doesn't the green chevron pair well with the bright pink?

There's that pretty lining, it's almost a shame to hid it!

I had time to make one more, Little Apples by Aneela Hooey.

I have a thing for red and aqua together, and children themes.

Each side is different from the other.

I like the lining, it's from the "Red Riding Hood line".

I made 4 lined drawstring bags in two evenings.

I'm offering this bag in the giveaway!!!
I hope you love it as much as I do :)

I made this cute little needle book that I saw on Amy's blog, Nana Company, and of course pinned it to my "Want to Make It" board on Pinterest.

The back is sewn in patchwork, with 1" finished squares.
I quilted around the squares with red embroidery floss.

Time for a Giveaway!

Hello friends ♥  It's about time that I have a giveaway!
I love Randi's blog and etsy shop, fresh squeezed fabrics.  She has a
monthly sew along that I follow.  In March, she had a "bottomed" zipper pouch tutorial and sew along.
I made one of the zipper pouches and would like to give one to you, along with three coordinating fat quarters so that you can make one of your own!
All you have to do is sign up to become a follower on my blog, and leave me a comment telling me that you did.
If you are already a follower, leave me a comment telling me that you are.
The zipper pouch is really nice, it has a coordinating lining that doesn't show up that well in the photo.  The zipper is pink.

This giveaway will be open until Sunday night, June 24.
The winner will be announced on Monday.

Look What I Won!!!

I love to read other people's blogs.  When I find an interesting one, I follow it.  Blogs give me ideas, including  lots of inspiration.  I sometimes enter giveaways, and have won a couple of things lately :)  I was reading the Vintage Trailer Lady's blog.  She had a yard of some really pretty fabric,  and asked what project she could use it for.  The suggestion she liked the best, would win a fat quarter bundle.

I said:  CynthiaMarch 22, 2012 9:56 PM
You could make a one yard apron. Use the cute western print as the skirt and use a contrasting print (like red polka dot) for the waistband and pockets. Then trim the skirt and pockets with jumbo pom poms :) Can you picture it?

She said she loved the idea, and this wonderful bundle came in the mail:  The 5 fat quarters came in a cellophane envelope, tied with ribbon and raffia.

There was a really cute tag under the ribbon.

Yes, it did feel like my birthday :)

I spread out the fat quarters so you could see the colors and the prints.  Aren't they cute?  Very retro.  Thank you Vintage Trailer Lady!

Every week, Randi at I Have to Say has a fat l/8 Tuesday. All you have to do is leave a comment, and you could win one of her fat l/8th bundles.  I was the lucky recipient!!!  Mine are called "beachy" colors.

Randi even included a little button pin, the silhouettes could be me and Kennedy :)

Randi runs a great shop on Etsy called Fresh Squeezed Fabrics.

Randi also has a monthly sew along on her blog.  I have a board for it on my Pinterest  called Randi's Sew Alongs.
Thank you so much for creating such an interesting blog :)

Small Treat Totes and a Giveaway!!!

Today, I'm sharing a tutorial with you and one viewer will be chosen to win one of my Small Treat Totes.
Just two fat quarters will make four of these little treat totes.  I say little, because they measure 4" X 4".
I decided to make 8 little treat totes, so I used four coordinating fat quarters.  (A fat quarter measures 18" X 22".  It is really a quarter of a yard, but doubled so it is called a fat quarter)

I made mine for Easter, but they aren't pastel.  I chose pink because I am giving them to some cute little girls for Easter.  Also, I didn't have any pastel shades on hand :)
You can fill these little totes with chocolate bunnies!

You can fill them with fluffy bunnies!

A fluffy bunny for each bag :)

Here is the link for the tutorial.
These small treat totes are so fun and really easy to make.

You have four chances to win one of these bags.
